The Playbook is fully personalized: a Manchester United fan who also follows the New York Rangers and Boston Red Sox gets one email covering exactly those three teams, with no NFL, no PGA, no other Premier League clubs. Coverage is composed daily by an AI pipeline that fetches live data from public sports APIs, then runs a two-dozen-plus-rule fact-check validator before sending.

The Playbook covers 15 leagues across 7 sports: Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, MLS, the EFL Championship, and the Women's Super League for soccer; NHL for ice hockey; NBA and the WNBA for basketball; MLB for baseball; NFL for American football; Formula 1 for motorsport; and the PGA Tour for golf. 310 teams are available; subscribers can mix any combination.

Is The Playbook free?

There are three tiers. The Brief is free and carries 2 teams, both in the paper every day: the lead story, a daily brief on each team, and standings. The middle tier is $8.99 a month for 5 teams, all five in every edition with no rotation, and adds the Analyst's Desk — the longer per-team read with tactical context, statistical depth and editorial framing. Premium is $14.99 a month for up to 25 teams, of which ten appear each morning on a rotation so every team you follow lands at least every third day. Paid checkout is not open yet.

How does The Playbook prevent AI hallucinations in sports facts?

Accepted Answer

Every brief passes a two-dozen-plus-rule fact-check validator before sending. The validator catches wrong scores, players incorrectly placed at former teams (e.g. citing a transferred player at his old club), fabricated statistics, impossible game states, and stale historical references. Critical or major violations trigger a re-prompt; if a transferred-player leak survives the retry, the offending sentence is redacted before the email goes out.
